The Belgian economy is small, but very open. Consequently, international trade (exports, imports, foreign investment, etc.) is of key importance for our enterprises. FEB involvement in trade missions abroad, the organisation of business seminars, our contributions to forums about European and international trade policy, etc. are examples of FEB's added value in this field of expertise.

Belgium is not only the beating heart of Europe, but also a dynamic green biotope where many new environmental technologies are developed. Belgian eco-business seizes the initiative
07/10/2008
Belgian eco-businesses are playing a major part in taking on board global environmental and climate-related issues by coming up with solutions that meet the needs of the respective authorities, the general public and local companies. However, many of these businesses still have far too low a profile beyond Belgium’s borders. Accordingly, during the economic missions scheduled for autumn 2008 and throughout 2009, working in conjunction with its sectoral federations, FEB intends to spread the word about the expertise of Belgian companies in the domain of environmental technology. The brochure Belgian eco-business: leading the way! affords an overview of the wide range of products and services associated with renewable energies, energy efficiency, water management, waste processing, air purification, sustainable construction and soil decontamination. Indeed, over the last few years Belgian businesses have developed a number of innovative solutions with the help of internationally renowned universities or private research establishments. Consequently, in the wake of Belgium’s economic missions, FEB will distribute the brochure to local entrepreneurs, industrial companies and the relevant authorities with which it comes into contact. The brochure will also be sent to Belgian embassies and diplomatic posts throughout the world. The brochure is available in Spanish and English. To order a printed copy, please contact Linda Janssens, either by e-mail at lj@vbo-feb.be or by phone on +32 (0)2 515 08 18. Alternatively, you may download a free digital version (pdf file). At the request of Foreign Minister De Gucht, FEB carried out an exploratory survey to map out China's foreign direct investment and determine how Belgium can best capitalise on it. "The findings show that when it comes to attracting Chinese investment, Belgium does not score well. This situation could be turned around, however, if targeted measures are taken immediately," said FEB Chief Executive Officer Rudi Thomaes. The findings in a nutshell. [read more]
